Q: What do you think of the Volkswagen Routan minivan? Is it really a Chrysler in disquise?
Why is it that when ever I a see a Volkswagen Routan (which isn’t often)–that it looks so similar to a Chrysler Town & Country? I like the way it looks and all, but if it’s really a Chrysler, then I wouldn’t want it because they are said to be junk. Are there any good minivans left out there?

Q: How to use Volkswagen Routan MP3 Player?
We bought a 2009 Volkswagen (VW) Routan this past month. There is a USB port in the stereo system. I was told that is where we can plug in my mp3 player but it isn’t working. Anyone ever used this option? What am I doing wrong?
Okay, DUH on the owners manual. Really? I think I did that. There is no info on how to hook it up. I also Googled the question and did as much other research as I could.

After a couple minutes of looking through google and such I found the song is “Let’s live for today” by “The Grass Roots”, I’m positive ;)

Q: Need to find video for the VW / Volkswagen Routan “blue one” commercial?
I just saw this commercial on tv and can’t find it online anywhere to show my boyfriend. Please help me find the link. The whole commercial you see a blue Routan driving around town and people punching eachother playing the slug bug game. At the end it’s like 4 boys sitting in the van with their dad asking if they can do it again. The announcer closes saying something about it being the only van with the spirit of a VW.

Q: 2009 Volkswagen Routan – what is it?
Which chassis did Volkswagen base the Routan minivan on? Is it built on a Passat chassis or is it an all new vehicle?

A: Actually, believe it or not, the Routan is based on Chrysler’s Town and Country minivan. It’s far from an exact copy; the interior of the Routan is a lot nicer but a lot of the body panels are the same as in the Chrysler. I’m not exactly sure why Volkswagen would do this, or even build a minivan to begin with! Strange things happening in the automobile world

Q: Volkswagen Routan has a low roof?
Is it me, or does your head hit the roof of the Routan too?

A: I haven’t had a problem with it. The roof is higher than most all sedans so unless you’re hitting your head there you shouldn’t hit your head in the Routan.

It’s an inch lower than a Chevrolet Suburban. Maybe you have the seat all the way up. Short people need it there.

were deciding on getting a new car , and we have our interests set on a volkswagen Routan , and we think the outside of the car is real attractive , sporty and ambitious ,the inside as well but i need reviews and opinions of actuall Routan owners , what do you think about this car , is it a good car from the inside and out ? is it roomy , spacious , does it have 4-wheel drive and also how many can this car sit i have 2 kids and a husband and in the winter we love to go skiing so in other words we mostly travel uphill , so does the Routan have 4 wheel drive as i asked earlier, and my kids invite there friends over alot of the times , so we need a car that can sit around 7 or 6 ? so i really need your help ! thank-you so much for answering my question !

A: It is a Chrysler minivan, with VW badges, for North America only. Everything that you see for and against the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan apply.

4WD no, not even AWD, but the Chrysler minivans are great in the winter – one of the best if not the best in snow and ice up to 8 inches deep.

It has plenty of room for your desires.

A: Volkswagen Routan:

~The VW Routan is newly introduced to the mini-van buyers, and shares the platform, and engine with the Dodge/Chrysler mini-vans.

~When you drive the car, it does not feel as underpowered as most Chrysler minivans. But overall, the interior is roomy, with modest materials used for the dash-board and other interior parts.

~The van seats 7~8.

~Sadly, the van does not offer 4wd. However, as I have tested the car 3 weeks ago, the Routan handles confidently and safely with snow tires in the snow.

~The Routan’s ride is soft, yet with a hint of agile-playfulness, as expected of VW vehicles. As a wrap up, I have to agree that the looks of the Routan is magnificent, but one other van that really stands out and is up for comparison, is the Honda Oddyssy…because of it’s great reliability, safety ratings, and overall quality.

~Lastly, test drive the Rountan as much as possible. Also, test the car on steep hills… feel the brakes when slowing down..etc. Get a feel for the car first, before purchasing it.

A: Sienna. A perennial all-star on any publication’s “Best” list. We’ve had one since ‘04, no issues whatsoever.

The Routan is just a Chrysler minivan with VM badging. Chrysler engine, transmission, electricals, etc… it was a quick way for VW to get a minivan on the market.
