A: It’s not really a first car kind of thing.
Go for an S40 or S60 if you really want a Volvo.

Q: 2011 Volvo XC60 T6… First time Volvo Owner…?
I’m helping my Uncle look for some new cars/trucks/SUV’s/Crossovers/etc. for my Aunt – These would be 2011 Year make cars (so new of course…)

We have narrowed it down to a few options really… He doesn’t want her to get a van again (Previous car was a 2007 Honda Oddesty(Spelling?) Touring Van), so i suggested this nice 2011 XC60 Crossover… Possibly even the R-Design too…?

They have never owned a Volvo before as I stated above, What should they really know before buying this crossover if they really wanted too…?

For the record I own a 2009 T6 Volvo XC70 in the family.

They probably should know a few things though

1. Cars like this car really hard to work on if something goes haywire (if it’s a Volvo it shouldn’t anyway)… but you never know.

2. The cars are extremely reliable. Some of the best on the road. Plus, the mostly are equipped with a lot of stabilizers and other equipment to keep the car safe if you wanted to actually take your crossover into an outback type of area.

3. They are very expensive

I currently have a 2008 Volvo XC90 V8 Executive Edition;
My Husband owns a 2010 Volvo S80 V8 Executive Edition we have recently purchased from our Volvo dealer in the area; he replaced his 2005 BMW 325i Well…. My daughter is going back off to collage soon and we would like to get her a car… yes, you’ve guessed it…. we are looking into another volvo…. so my question is… if we didn’t want to get another volvo FOR HER…. “Would it be crazy to give Claire (Daughter) my XC90 Executive V8; and for me to buy a brand new 2010 Volvo XC60 T6 AWD R-Design??? Pete (Husband) ’s Idea. Just asking you guys what you think… Thanks (PS. I have to say I love the 2010 Volvo XC90, and fortunately we have the money to do this… Thanks for your opinions again guys :)

The xc60 would presumably have a higher centre of gravity but its rollover rating is 4/5 – the same as the average car – so maybe not much and it has rollover protection any way. The xc60 is also heavier.

A: Look at it from a few different perspectives.
First off, both are volvos, meaning theyre safe and share a lot of similar safety features that help you in an accident like the side impact protection system, the whiplash protection system, etc.
The S60 might pack some more modern things like the city safety system and the pedestrian detection system, which is a different type of safety.
a lot of the ratings come from looking at collisions and seeing how much the “safety box”: around where passengers sit has been impacted. The goal is that the front and back crumple but the cabin area stays unchaged and as a square.
The S60 is a sedan and is more lower to the ground so it may be a bit more stable when you are hit. But at the same time the xc60 is heavier and more solid so unles youre in a full force 60mph head on colision or something crazy, the xc60 might be safer just because its bigger. But then remember both cars are bassicaly built off of the same platform/frame. The XC90 however is a different story, but the xc60 is more or less the AWD wagon version of the s60.

A: Don’t understand your question–they’re all important, some more than others, but there’s no real “order” for them. The sound system isn’t really a safety feature, and neither is cargo volume, though.
