Q: Would a new Dodge Challenger make an ok or good commuter car?
I’ll be going to school in San francisco soon and i’ll be living about 29 miles away, on top of that, I’ll be working 17 miles in another direction. I’m going to need a car and I’m really stuck on the Dodge challenger, my question remains, will it be a good choice for a car that is mostly going to be used for commuting? This can be based on your opinion or tech specs of the car itself, just give me some insight please, thanks!
I’m looking at the low end SE trim.
A: not a good choice for commuting,the mileage isn’t that great and the car is a high profile car right now to thief’s,you just don’t see that many of them being used as every day cars in real life,the se is a good looking car but i just wouldn’t buy one for my only means of transportation,that’s just my opinion of them ,i own a 73 model challenger also,good luck.
Q: What type of gas does the dodge challenger take?
I have been looking at the dodge challenger and I haven’t really seen any sites that have this type of information. I would like to know this for all the challengers meaning SE, RT, and SRT8. So if anyone could help me out I would really appreciated it! Thanks!!
A: Premium is recommended, but not required.
Fuel is widely mis-understood. The octane rating is resistance to combustion. Higher the number, the higher the temp required to combust. Higher resistance allows for higher compression in the cylinders.
The new hemi engines are at the tame end of high compression.
Any (Gas) engine will run on regular. If it runs in hot weather, under heavy pulling/acceleration/loading and does not have pre-ignition (knocking) there is no reason to use a higher octane. But to find this point you need to be careful. You don’t want a full tank of 85 octane and find the engine knocks just pulling from the pumps!
Search for your minimum tolerance one grade at a time. Go to a nearly empty tank and try a couple gallons of the next lower grade. If there is no knock under the hardest use you give it, try it for a couple tanks.
Then start trying the next lower grade.
It is a combination of environment, fuel, and how you drive. If you do use a lower grade, you have to anticipate changes.

Could anyone help me out? I already asked about this but now I’ve narrowed down my search and I found my car. So what would my approx. insurance be per month on a 1979 Dodge Challenger for an 18 year old? I want full coverage also

A: You’re not going to get an insurance company willing to give “full coverage” on a car that’s over 30 years old, so you’re NOT going to get full coverage.
A FAIR price, in USD (because you posted to the USA board) is going to be around $3,000 a year, for minimum liability, if NONE of the drivers in your household have any tickets or accidents.

A: wouldnt it be better to buy a used one clean title with no problems??? idk my opinion. because if you put money and effort into it and probably shit will pop out everytime. its a big decsion though. or save up. thats what im doing, i wasnt to get a v6 se i mean it kills me not driving one but i wanna wait til i get a good one. hopefully you make the right decision. good luck

Ok I am a big guy so the challenger is more comfortable. But the Evo is closer to my price range.
I would like an educated answer ande these are my two options so please do not suggest other cars( I do not like the camaro)
A: if you are looking for a comfortable ride with a good amount of power i suggest the Evo with its 4 wheel drive system and turbo charged power. Four doors is hard to beat when you have things to carry around in your car like people. Its generally cheaper on gas and a very light car. With the Challenger you get power but even the SRT8 version is slow because of the crazy weight this car has. its terrible at the gas pumps and driving feel alittle boring after a while.I test drove one 1 year ago. Its a huge car good for big guys but the car is very overrated. especially for the asking price to buy one. However if your more of a American muscle guy may I suggest another car. But if you gotta have that tuner feel go with the EVO ! Hope this helped.

A: I haven’t seen a 2011 challenger perform yet but the ones From the past few years don’t seem to have alot of get up and go unlike the camaro which is pretty decent all around.

I know I’ve asked this before but this time I’m just being a little more specific. I’m looking for how much insurance would be on a 1979 Dodge Challenger. I live in Ontario Canada near Toronto. I am a male and single. School and work are within 15 Kilometres of my house. I will be 18 when I get the car, I will be the principal driver on this car and there are 3 other drivers in my house. My driving record is clean, no accidents or tickets.
A: You need to contact an agent and get a quote; you arent going to get accurate quotes here. There are still a lot of variables like limits of liability and deductibles.
Q: Should I consider buying a 2009 Dodge Challenger?
This car simply appeals to me on a very high level. I know the SRT8 has got around 425 horse power and some nice features, but it is expensive and the 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500 has (shocker) 500 horsepower. So should i consider buying a car that will potentially get run off the road by a mustang… and which model will best suit my adrenaline-junky needs, the R/T or SRT8?
A: It comes down to money. If you are rolling in dough, I say by all means go for the SRT8. If value comes to mind, the R/T suits almost everyone’s needs. It has more power than the Mustang GT and to me looks much better, and does it for around the same price. Also the Mustang has become way to common. I see daily heavily modified ones with hood scoops, exhaust, racing stripes, and rims. Right now, the Challenger will make very unique. If you have patience, I heard the 2010 Mustangs are getting a makeover.

Q: How long will they make the Dodge Challenger?
A: no body knows yet ,they will make it for at least three years though,they will give any car that much time to see if its going to sell good,if it does they will continue to make it,when it comes out it will be done on a trial bases,but all the ones for this year have already been ordered so this one may stick around for a while,looks like sales on this car are going to be really good,,good luck.
