Q: My Toyota Tacoma is being recalled by Toyota. Are the Tacomas really just getting crushed?
They are awesome for the compensation for it but I would hope they would salvage some of the parts that were good. It seems like a waste to crush the truck when the engine and transmission is still good.
They didn’t put enough rust corrosion protection on the 95-2000 frames. In areas where they use salt on the roads the frames corrode quickly. They are doing free inspections on the frames. Some are fine, some they can fix, and the ones that aren’t repairable they are paying 150% of book value.
A: Assuming its not repairable probably. Its anywhere from 8-13 years old. Toyota isn’t in the junkyard business so I doubt they will want to pull and inspect parts to see whats still good and whats not. Seeing as how important the frame is they probably don’t want a bad truck to end up back on the road and have someone try to sue them when it fails.
Q: How do you install a power side view mirror on a Toyota Tacoma?
I need to replace the side view mirror on this truck. Does anyone know how?

A: either the door panel needs to be removed or (most toyotas) directly behind where the mirror mounts on the outside is a triangle panel on th inside of the door that either pops off or has a screw holding it on once one or the other is done you will have acess to the 3 nuts holding it on as well as the electrical connection.
Q: Leaking Rear Brake in a 1995 Toyota Tacoma?
My 95 4X4 Tacoma with 158k developed a brake fluid leak on the drivers side rear wheel well area, it drips onto the spare tire, at first glance I assumed it was a leaky brake line. A closer look tells me its not the line, but something mounted to the body that apparently pumps fluid to the rear brakes? It kind of looks like a small pump, but I’m really not sure what it is. Can’t find my Haynes Manual but I’m pretty handy. Do you know what this is and how hard it is to replace? I know I’ll have to bleed the brakes afterward.
I’m not seeing a part listed as a cylinder other than the master cylinder.
This happened after carrying 1 ton of wood pellets + my family for 30 miles, research has made me wonder if it’s the brake rear proportioning valve.

Q: Toyota Tacoma 2006 Oil Filter, how to get off w/o oil everywhere?
When I change my 2006 Toyota Tacoma oil filter, it drain out all over the engine b/c it sits open end down. The oil fills the little catch pan and overflows. Then I have to clean out the catch pan. Is there something I’m missing here?
A: the small catch pan on the new toyotas has a very small rubber drain plug on the bottom of it remove it before loosening the filter and place a soda or empty oil bottle underneath it to catch the oil

2003 Access Cab. When I drive it, it feels heavy, and it handles like crap. This is compared to regular cars. Do I need to get some sweet suspension, tires, and a lowering job to make my vehicle perform like a car?
A: The truck is about 6 1/2 years old and likely still has the stock shocks on it, and they are likely wearing out, causing a lot of pitch and roll and just plain old uncomfortable driving. A: It will be fine , just a little lighter in the rear. Watch your starts and wet pavement as it will roast tires easily.
Q: Will a dirt bike fit in a toyota tacoma short bed?
How well does a dirt bike fit in a tacoma double cab short bed? (im talking about the gen. 2’s, 05-08’s). Some people said that you have to angle it, but the wheel will rest on the tailgate. But ive also heard the tailgate is weak, so is that bad for it? As for the double cab long bed, how much better does it fit? Will I be able to shut the tailgate?

A: I normally put my KX 250 in straight forward with the tailgate down. However i’m not sure if it will fit with the tailgate up, i haven’t tried yet. As far as the plastic bed floor and tailgate they seem to be pretty strong i’ve hauled a complete V-8 engine with no problems. Hope this helps!
Q: How much does it cost to replace a clutch on a 97 Toyota Tacoma ?
My husbands clutch pedal is stuck
to the floor and won’t work to change gears. We are curious as to how much this will cost to replace. We live in Arkansas.
A: don’t know if you have a 4×4, 4cyl, or 6cyl.
keep in mind. on a clutch replacement there is *possibly* going to be extra maintenance costs. resurfacing fly wheels, throw out bearings/forks.

shops may exceed 600 bucks. depending on your vehicle options.
i would strongly suggest that you call a toyota dealer. they just sent out a flyer (deal) for this repair. though i threw mine away and cant remember the prices.
the reason i suggest toyota, is that i strongly suggest you use factory Aisin parts. after market parts, if you don’t know/trust the manufacturer, will not last.
BTW, hers a link to you Factory Service Manual (PDF). the book itself is worth over 100 bucks. i know it says ‘96. but like most manuals, it covers many years. in this case ‘95 1/2-’97. rt click link, “save target as”.

Q: What is the lug pattern on my 1998 2wd Toyota Tacoma?
I have looked everywhere online to find this and all I can find is the bolt patters from 95-97. If anyone could help me that would be great. Im going to look at some wheels today that are 5×4.5.
A: is it an sr5? if so i think it is a 5 on 4.5. but if its a prerunner, its a 6 on 5.5

I just bought one with 100k miles on it and want to know how many miles your truck lasted?
A: I used to have a ‘98 but only put 58,000 miles on it before trading it for a ‘99 Celica. I put almost 200,000 on the Celica and, other than oil changes and preventative maintenance, I think I changed the battery, brakes and air filter and that was it.
If it’s well kept, you can go 200-300K in any Toyota. Congrats!
Q: I want to tow my 2007 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner manual trans behind motorhome. What is the best way?
The owners manual recommends not using it as a dinghy. Surely there must be a way to do that without damaging the Pickup. Is putting it on a trailer my only option?
A: PUT the car in neutral i would hike up the front two tires just so you wont have a steering problem if you just tow it you need to make sure the steering is not locked

I want to change my Tacoma to a style similar to a ‘32 Ford Pickup. I can make the bed and the convertible top, but I need cycle fenders to fit.
